Know Your River is led by a team of scientists with expertise across a range of disciplines, including microbial ecology and analytical chemistry. All members of the team are experienced researchers in the field of antimicrobial resistance in the environment, in particular, in rivers.
Dr Chiara Borsetto
Principal Investigator
Dr Chiara Borsetto is leading the team at Know Your River... England. She is an experienced researcher with skills across analytical chemistry, microbiology and bioinformatics, with a particular focus on investigating antimicrobial resistance in the river environment. In addition to leading the project, Chiara will perform lab work and data analysis and report the results to relevant stake holders and the general public.
Prof Liz Wellington
Co-Investigator
Prof Liz Wellington is an environmental microbiologist with extensive experience in studying antibiotic resistance in the environment.
Dr Lijiang Song
Co-Investigator
Dr Lijiang Song is an expert in the field of analytical chemistry and has considerable experience with detecting antibiotics and other pharmaceutical compounds in river water and sediment.
Dr Kim Summers
Research Fellow
Dr Kim Summers is an experienced post doctoral fellow who will be performing both lab work and data analysis. She will be isolating bacteria from the samples as well as characterising their antimicrobial resistance profiles.
Dr Emma Travis
Research Fellow
Dr Emma Travis is an experienced post doctoral fellow who will aid with data analysis and website design.
Letizia Pondini
Graphic Designer
Letizia Pondini is doing a PhD in environmental microbiology in Professor Hendrik Schäfer group, looking at the impact of air pollution on phyllosphere bacteria.
