Research interests: Biochemistry of chemolithotrophic sulfur bacteria and of methylotrophic bacteria; phylogeny and classification of sulfur bacteria and methylotrophs; origins and causes of the obligately autotrophic mode of metabolism; phylogeny, taxonomy and discrimination between species of Mycoplasma.
