Shanita attends BSPP 2025
Travel Grant Funding to BSPP
Plant Pathology Conference 2025, Nottingham 9th-11th September 2025
Through a travel grant awarded by the British Society of Plant Pathology, PhD student Shanita attended the BSPP Plant Pathology Conference 2025 in Nottingham from 9th-11th September, where she presented her research poster from the title 'From Dish to Plant: Regenarating Brassica oleracea 'Rbroc' for Precision Editing.
“This was my first visit to Nottingham, and it was a valuable chance to explore current research in plant pathology and connect with researchers from around the UK and other countries. A personal highlight was presenting my research poster for the first time at a conference. Discussing my work with other attendees was both encouraging and enlightening. Several talks stood out for their relevance to my research, which focuses on genome editing of Brassicas for disease resistance. I even had the chance to speak with one of the presenters about shared methodologies and potential collaboration.
Beyond the sessions, the conference provided a great platform to network with fellow PhD students, leading scientists, and industry professionals.
I am incredibly grateful to the BSPP for this opportunity—it was an inspiring experience that has given me fresh ideas and connections for my research.”
