Post-doc Buddy System

Join the Post-doc Buddy System!

To assist new-starter post docs to settle into Warwick University, LAMS is setting up a BuddySystem, with established post docs volunteering to be a point of contact for the new starters, and to help guide them until they choose their mentor. Buddies should be able to assist the new starters with their questions on how things work at Warwick and who to contact for their different needs, as well as helping to guide the new starters in choosing their mentor.

We’re looking for volunteers for buddies who are established at Warwick – they are comfortable navigating the environment, generally know how things work and who to contact for questions (i.e. technical team, IT, finance, stores). This does not have a time frame, nor a seniority.Think of the questions you had when you started and if you can answer most of them now, then you’re qualified!

Commitment:

·Three meetings over the first six months for the new starter, with the first meeting occurring in the first month (LAMS will provide a coffee voucher for the first meeting). Other meetings will be arranged as required.

·The expected time commitment is 3 hours over 6 months, with thebuddyofficially released from their duties at 6 months.

·Buddies may have more than one new starter assigned to them dependent upon the number of new starters that month (max. 3).
