Characterisation
Magnetic characterisation is mainly carried out using the facilities of the Superconductivity and Magnetism Group and the Ultrasonics Group.
Magnetisation measurements are made using various instruments, including the SQUID magnetometer, allowing the application of fields up to 7 T over a temperature range a 1.8-800 K.
The vibrating sample magnetometer allows measurements of DC magnetisation in applied fields up to 12 T over a temperature range of 1.8-300 K.
Magnetoelastic properties can be explored using non-contact ultrasound analysis, in applied fields up to 0 T over a temperature range of 1.8-300 K.
