Your Library 2022

The Library, at the heart of campus, has so much to offer students. Through January, the Library will be showcasing its services via an exhibition in the main building, and digital social media campaign: #YourLibrary2022. Check it out to find out what’s returning for 2022, and what is new. Here are some of the highlights: follow the links below and explore the our website to discover what’s on offer.

After popular demand, the Library returned to 24 hour access on 10 January 2022! The Library Study blog about the return of 24 hour opening has some top tips about travel and wellbeing in relation to the extended opening hours – take a look! There will be staff available at all times, but for more complex queries it is advised to seek support from the helpdesk between 8:30am and 21:30pm, or email Library at warwick dot ac dot uk.

If you are looking for subject support, the Library has got you covered too. Academic Support Librarians (email: academicsupport at warwick dot ac dot uk) are available to help with subject specific advice and guidance when researching and writing for assessments. They work closely with your departments, so have a good understanding of your modules, your reading lists and other sources of information. They’re usually available between 9am and 5pm.

The IT Services drop-in centre can still be found on the first floor of the Library if you need to visit them in person - check their website for opening hours. For tips and tricks for assessments, organisation and mindfulness, look to the Study Blog, where students share their advice and experiences to help you through your university journey. If you are searching for support with self-development, the Library also offers many online courses, from referencing to mindfulness.

It has never been easier to access Library material. The Click & Collect service, which launched last year, makes borrowing material quick and easy. If you are based at home this term, the new Get it For Me service can connect you with Library material through the post, and allows access to material at other libraries. If you are isolating, or just busy, the Proxy Borrowing service means a fellow student can collect the material you need. And, if circumstances change, or you cannot return books in person, the Freepost Returns service means just that - you can return Library material, for free, by post- hassle free.

You may be aware that in response to student feedback, a ~£4million project was progressed over the summer to improve the Library building. Finishing touches are being done to complete the refurbishment and redecoration of floors 1 and 2. You may have already become acquainted with the new comfy chairs, and increased study spaces and collaborative zones. The new Co-creation Space on floor 2 is designed to encourage collaboration between staff and students, and the new Breathing Space on floor one offers a new environment for people to take a moment to rest from study. This refurbishment was done with students and sustainability in mind, with environmentally friendly toilets, and reused furniture.

There are also many services and spaces created to ensure that the Library is accessible to everyone, including adjustable furniture and the Assistive Technology Area. The toilets have been updated and a new fire safety system has been installed. With all these additions and more, the Library is eager for students to make the most of the space, a space for everyone to thrive. If you want to explore, but are not sure where to start, a new Self-Guided Tour is under development and will be available via the helpdesk and Library website soon. Watch this space – and read more about the refurb on the Library Study Blog.

This is your Library 2022, so take advantage of what it has to offer, and let us know what you think!
