Key electronic resources
The Library provides a range of key electronic resources to support language students, with access to:
- reference sources, such as Oxford Reference, which includes subject and language dictionaries, as well as many electronic dictionaries accessible via Library Search
- primary news sources, such as Nexis for international news
- secondary critical literature (journal articles, books, book chapters and dissertations) through databases such as the MLA International Bibliography, Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts, Oxford Handbooks, JSTOR and Project Muse.
Online help and support
The Library provides the following additional resources, to support Chinese Studies:
CNKI e-journal platform offering access to Chinese journals, searchable in both Chinese and English. The Library has access to journals covering Literature, History, Philosophy, Politics, Military affairs, Law and Economics
1,200 pamphlets from the Charles W. Wason Collection on East Asia, Cornell University Library. It is one of the oldest and most distinctive English language collections relating to China and the West and a rich source for research on Chinese history, religion, culture and everyday life.
A collection of English-language sources which include unique manuscript material relating to the activities and observations of British and American diplomats, missionaries, business people and tourists in China.
Annotated subject bibliographies and research guides providing an up-to-date overview of the most recent and authoritative scholarship in Chinese Studies.
