CLL student presents dissertation research at international conference
Shaheen Akhtar, who has recently completed her MA in Career Development and Coaching Studies, travelled to Padua, Italy, in early October along with Course Director and dissertation supervisor Gill Frigerio to attend a 3 day conference on ‘Decent Work, Equity and Inclusion’.
Shaheen and Gill co-presented a paper entitled ‘Decent Work and religious women: working with calling in practice’. As part of this Shaheen shared selected findings of her exploration of working experiences of selected Muslim women’.
Shaheen began her studying journey with CLL as a 2+2 social studies student, before beginning her part time MA which she has combined with various work roles.
(‘Decent work’ is a concept used by the International Labour Organisation to refer to work that is productive, delivers a fair income, provides security in the workplace and social protection for families, better prospects for personal development and social integration, freedom for people to express their concerns, organize and participate in the decisions that affect their lives and equality of opportunity and treatment for all).
