Research has been a key driver in the University’s partnership in Coventry City of Culture – including during the last year, despite the challenges of lockdown and home working. In the last three years, Warwick researchers have carried out more than 60 new research projects - working in diverse ways and settings with a wide range of organisations, artists and communities.
Warwick Arts Centre is hugely excited to start welcoming back audiences, with plans to reopen fully in October 2021.
But before the Arts Centre fully reopens, we’ve got to celebrate the start of Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture! Have a look at what’s planned for the summer months, including the chance to experience some much missed live theatre.
The university is currently a hive of activity and planning, as we get ready for the year ahead, with City of Culture launching on the 15th of May 2021. Well, I say ‘the university’ but of course we are actually all getting on with this work from our homes as we continue to face the challenges of planning for the most complex and ambitious set of public engagement projects the university has ever delivered in the city in the context of current lockdown restrictions.

Coventry City of Culture Trust are looking for 5,000 volunteers throughout the year, to spend as much or as little time as they can, to showcase our city. See what volunteers will be doing and how you can get involved.
Coventry’s tenure as UK City of Culture 2021 will celebrate our city with events, music, dance, theatre, and large-scale spectacle. More than this, it will put the spotlight on the city and its communities and act as a major catalyst for change in the cultural landscape of the city. A full year of activity will create the foundations and legacy for cultural, social and economic prosperity.
