Round Table Commonwealth Awards for Young Scholars
In celebration of the centenary of The Round Table and the 60th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth, Round Table Commonwealth Awards for Young Scholars will be awarded to six students from Commonwealth countries studying at a UK University in the academic year 2008-9. Each student will undertake a 3 week study visit to a Commonwealth country in the summer of 2009 as part of his or her existing academic research projects (either undergraduate or postgraduate). On their return, scholars will write up their research into an article for publication in The Round Table and disseminate their findings through presentations to other university students.

PhD Students Lucy Allwright and Tara Morton win HRC Doctoral Fellowship competition
Lucy Allwright and Tara Morton have won Doctoral Fellowships with the Humanities Research Centre at the University of Warwick. As part of the fellowship they will organise an interdisciplinary conference entitled: Envisioning Community: Space, Place and Translating the Past in 19th and 20th Century Britain.
Revelation and Reckoning: Angels and the Apocalypse in Reformation England
PhD student Laura Sangha has contributed a chapter entitled 'Revelation and Reckoning: Angels and the Apocalypse in Reformation England, c. 1559-1625’ to the book 'The Church, the Afterlife and the Fate of the Soul', due for publication 2009. Laura's article explores perceptions surrounding angels and the afterlife in England, examining the role that angels had in the strategies adopted by Christians to conceptualise and prepare for the Apocalypse as foretold in the Book of Revelation
