Professor Bernard Capp features in Who do you think you are?
Professor Bernard Capp and Professor Trevor Burnard play key roles in the BBC1 series Who do you think you are?
The episode features Kevin Whately, famous for playing working-class characters, who it is revealed has a surprisingly affluent family history. Professor Capp gives expert advice to Kevin when he discovers that his ancestors, the Thomson brothers, were amongst the richest and most powerful men of their time. Not only were they close associates of Oliver Cromwell, but their fortune, made in the new colonies of America and the West Indies, helped fund the Parliamentarians in the English Civil War.
The episode will be shown on 2nd March 2009 (further details).
