Assessments in History

You'll find your assessment deadlines are listed on Tabula under the 'Assignments' tab in the navigation menu. You need to upload your assessment document to Tabula by the date and time specified, otherwise it will be marked as 'late'. More information can be found in the Coursework section of the UG Handbook.

Unless you've been granted an extension, you will receive a five mark deduction per day for the late submission of an assessment. This does not include weekend days or bank holidays. Please note that 7-day Take Home Assessments do not accept late submissions or extensions. Read more about the Last Submission Date Policy and Penalties in the Undergraduate Handbook.

It is your responsibility to check the correct file has been uploaded to Tabula. However, the History department allows a window of two working days after a deadline for you to rectify this mistake. This doesn't apply to 7-Day Take Home Assessments or timed exams. Find out more in the Submission of Wrong File section of the Undergraduate Handbook.

All you need to know about requesting an Extension can be found in the Undergraduate Handbook. There are four different types; self-certification (five working day period), specific (five working days), exceptional (10 working days) and extensions for reasonable adjustments (five working days). However, not all assessments are eligible for extensions, and the maximum extension you can request is for 10 working days.

Each academic department at Warwick has its own approach to using Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the History department has its own AI guidance in the Undergraduate Handbook. The simple rule in History is that you must not use generative AI tools to create content that is presented as your own work. However, non-generative tools, such as spell-checkers or basic grammar checkers, are fine.

Feedback on your assessment will be returned to you via Tabula under the 'Assignments' tab. In terms of when your feedback is provided, this will depend on which term your assignment is submitted. Find out more in the Feedback section of the Undergraduate Handbook.

There are many considerations that come into play when assessments are marked. The University uses the 20 Point Marking Scale to map different degree classifications, however the History department uses is own set of marking descriptors to reflect the distinct nature of the discipline. If you are unable to attend a scheduled summative assessment, such as an exam or a presentation because of unforeseen circumstances, you must submit a claim for Mitigating Circumstances. This should be submitted as soon as possible after the exam or presentation, and no later than the mitigation deadline. The relevant Exam Board will consider your case and may direct you to take a reassessment. Read more about Absence in the Undergraduate Handbook.

It's important to discuss any concerns you may have about your studies with your Personal Tutor, who can signpost you to the support you need and advise you on how best to proceed.
