Guidance on 5-min presentations
Valid for the HI115 (2024-2025) seminar group
5-min presentations for HI115
As we discussed in week 2, these are "show-and-tell" style presentations. While they are entirely optional, doing one will contribute to your 10% seminar participation grade.
The guidelines for presentations are as follows:
-
8 mins at most. Around 5 mins is fine.
-
Presentations can be individual or in pairs.
-
Pick a primary source or document of your liking (it DOES NOT have to correlate to the week's topic).
-
Analyze and contextualize the source. You can use the document review form hereLink opens in a new window
-
Create a ppt (1-3 slides) for your presentation, which we will use in class. Alternatively, send me your slides and I'll include them on the class' ppt. The only mandatory thing is that you show your chosen source, whether graphic or written.
-
Presentations will run from week 4 onwards. If you want to book your spot early (ie. in a specific week in january, at the end of term, etc.) email me and I'll book it in advance.
- If you have signed up but are unable to do your presentation in your chosen week, let me know at least 24h in advance and we cna reschedule.
As always, I'm available if you have questions about content or assessment, so feel free to send an email or come to office hours (Thursdays 15h30-16h30, FAB 3.45).
