Mapping the Scottish Reformation, Pilot Phase

We are delighted to announce that the first stage of Mapping the Scottish Reformation -- a database of Scottish clerics between 1560 and 1689 -- is now available for consultation online. This resource was created by scraping data points from thousands of pages of Church of Scotland manuscripts housed in the National Records of Scotland, Edinburgh. You can access the resource at this link:

This resource will continue to grow in the coming months, as we add more manuscript data.

We are interested in hearing users' feedback on the resource, as we enter stage two of our project in the coming months. This will involve building a new user interface and extending the geographical remit of our work.

We hope you find our work useful. And, of course, please do spread the word to those who you think may be interested in the history of the Scottish clergy or follow us on Twitter @MappingScotsRef

All the best,

Dr Chris R. Langley

Co-Director, Mapping the Scottish Reformation
