Opening: Professor of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Warwick invites applications from candidates with proven excellence in research in computer science for the new opening as Professor in Computer Science.
Candidates are required to have a PhD in Computer Science or related discipline, should be able to demonstrate excellent research in computer science, should be capable of research leadership (to demonstrate an ability to secure funded research grants and co-supervising MSc and PhD students in Computer Science), and should have excellent teaching skills. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research and teaching, and the ambition to play a leading role in the Department of Computer Science. Special considerations will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary interests and industrial research experience.
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Warwick is one of the leading computer science departments in United Kingdom for both research and teaching. Research in the Department encompasses a variety of topics, ranging from advancing the foundations of computing to exploring novel, interdisciplinary applications. These activities are strengthened by a range of collaborations, including within the University, nationally, and internationally. Recent large-scale funding has resulted in the establishment of cross-faculty centres of research which bring together emergent technologies and target disciplines. The Department is consistently ranked amongst the top Computer Science Departments in the UK in independent surveys.
The department's current research is conducted within three research divisions, each led by approximately ten academics:

• Theory and Foundations
Members of the department also play leading roles in a range of collaborative initiatives with other departments at Warwick through six interdisciplinary research centres:
• Centre for Discrete Mathematics and its Applications
• Warwick Institute for the Science of Cities
• Warwick Data Science Institute
• Centre for Scientific Computing
• Centre for Complexity Science
• Molecular Organisation and Assembly in Cells
The Department is located in its own, purpose-built building on the main university campus and has approximately 30 academic staff, and over 70 research associates and research postgraduate students together with 13 technical and support staff. Seven undergraduate degree courses are offered: BSc (three-year) and MEng (four-year) in Computer Science; BSc in Computing Systems; BSc in Discrete Mathematics (run jointly with the Warwick Mathematics Institute); BSc in Data Science run jointly with the Department of Statistics); BSc in Computer and Management Sciences and a BSc in Computing with Business Studies (run jointly with the Warwick Business School). All degree courses can be taken with or without an Intercalated Year (a year in industry or at another university). The Department offers also two taught postgraduate MSc degrees: MSc in Computer Science and Applications and an MSc in Data Analytics.
