Simulating and assimilating a digital human brain of 86 billion neurons and 47.8 trillion neuronal synapses

"Simulating a spiking neuronal network of the human brain at a scale of up to 86 billion neurons brings a substantial challenge in brain science, computer science and mathematics." Jianfeng says.

They cestablisd detailed modeling of neurons, synapses, and neural circuits, integrated experimental data from multiple modes such as cortical column loop structure, gray matter volume, fiber bundle tracking data, and blood oxygen response signals, and formed a universal brain structure generation framework at the neuron and synapse levels. The DTB consortium simulated a whole human brain, comprising up to 86 billion neurons and 47.8 trillion synapses and achieved real-time factors of 65, 78.8, and 118.8 in simulation for average firing rates of around 7 Hz, 15 Hz and 30 Hz, respectively.
