Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) Lab at Warwick

Welcome to the webpages of Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) lab (formerly known as the Bioimage Analysis or the BIA lab) at Warwick. Current research in the lab is focussed on the application of image analysis and machine learning algorithms in order to further our understanding of the biology and pathology of diseases such as cancer from information-rich multi-gigapixel digitised pathology images. Members of the lab collaborate actively with the Digital Pathology Centre of Excellence at the local University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW) as well as researchers in the Mathematics Institute, School of Life Sciences, Warwick Medical School, Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge, Ohio State University (USA), Bielefeld University (Germany), Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), and Qatar University among others. Research in the lab has been supported by several national and international funding agencies such as the MRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, Royal Society, Horticulture Development Company (HDC), GE Omnyx (USA), European Commission (EC), and Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).

PhD Applicants

We are always looking for highly self-motivated PhD applicants with strong academic background in computing, electrical engineering, mathematics, or statistics preferably at the MS level and fluency in MATLAB/C++/Python/R. Since most of the research in our lab involves working with clinicians and biologists as well as other members of the lab, applicants should be comfortable working in a team, possess good communication skills, and be open to learning about the required knowledge in the related disciplines (medicine or biology).

Summer Internships

If you are a bright undergraduate with a knack for research in biomedical application and are interested in in internship at our lab during Summer 2018, contact us with your CV, academic transcripts and a personal statement.
