River Watchers India - A Citizen Science Project
Water monitoring by citizen scientists in India
This project addresses the alarming prevalence of AMR in the environment, using water bodies of Chennai (Tamil Nadu, India) as a case study, by developing a simple, cheap but comprehensive monitoring system enabled by citizen scientists.
Aims
1 | Develop and standardise simple methods to monitor water quality parameters that closely correlate with AMR |
2 | Evaluate the correlation of simple quality parameters |
3 | Involve citizens in monitoring water quality - training, awareness and motivation |
4 | Develop a comprehensive AMR monitoring system to assess AMR contamination levels in major water courses |
5 | Identify critical waterbody hotspots for evolution and dissemination of AMR in Chennai |
