Summary of the field trial

The field trial was carried out at Warwick HRI in 2005. Five composts were incorporated into the soil. A test crop of spring barley was drilled in March 2005. The nutrient supply, organic matter and heavy metal content of the soils were assessed before and after compost application. The barley was harvested in August 2005. Analysis of the harvested grain indicated whether there were any deleterious effects of the compost on protein amount or quality.
