WMS MB ChB Virtual Open Day

Virtual MBChB Open Day: Thursday 3 September 2020

This virtual event allowed attendees to find out about the exciting opportunities open to graduate-entry MBChB students at Warwick, all from the comfort of their own home. As part of the event, attendees met academics, talked to students and explored some of the unique teaching and learning styles that help make Warwick doctors different.

MBChB Overview and Welcome

Attendees were able to hear a brief introduction from Professor Lesley Roberts, Pro-Dean for Education, and Professor Colin Macdougall, Head of Medical Education, here at Warwick Medical School.

Curriculum Overview Q&A

Dr Kate Owen, Deputy Head of MBChB, provided an overview of our graduate-entry MBChB curriculum in the Sway above. This overview offers a chance to fully understand how our accelerated programme works and what can be expected from our MBChB. Staff and students were on hand to answer any questions in the Q&A session.

Admissions Overview Q&A

Professor Richard Tunstall, Head of MBChB Admissions, provided an overview of the 2021 admissions process at Warwick Medical School in the presentation above. Our friendly MBChB Admissions Team were on hand during the Q&A session to answer any questions.

Student experiences Q&A

Second year medic Abbie provided an overview of life as a medical student here at Warwick Medical School in the presentation above. In the Q&A session, attendees were able to chat firsthand with current MBChB students about their experiences and get all the information and insight needed from current Warwick doctors in training.

Afternoon activities

We held three different afternoon activities that allowed attendees to get some hands on experience as to what learning at Warwick is really like. The taster sessions held were in the areas of physiology, ethics and anatomy.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand applying to study medicine can be a daunting experience. Therefore, we wanted to make the process as easy as possible, and having all the right information available is the best place to start. Attendees were able to ask questions during the Q&A sessions but these pages also provide all the information needed when thinking about applying, from academic entry requirements and work experience to UCAS applications and selection centres.

With around 80,000 e-books, 48,000 electronic journals and a number of electronic databases our library is well equipped to meet all your needs.
The Library also runs the Biomed Grid that is based within the Medical School Building. This space is specifically set up for medical students and saves you the trip down to central campus to study when your time is limited.

Warwick Arts Centre

Our Arts Centre is currently undergoing a refurbishment project. By the end of 2020 our brand new facilities will be showing the very best in contemporary art, events and entertainment. Our current project will ensure that Warwick Arts Centre will be the region’s leading cultural centre.

Our Arts Centre is currently closed owing to the Covid-19 crisis but when they reopen, they will still have a full programme of events and shows taking place in our Theatres, Hall and other spaces whilst the refurbishment project takes place.

Accommodation

Although the majority of our students opt to live off campus in one of the surrounding towns or cities, there is accommodation available for first year WMS students on campus. All campus rooms are self-catering and are managed by an in-house residential team to help support students.

Student Finance

Please note this information is correct as of June 2020 and is subject to change for 2021 entry.

Undergraduate tuition fees for Home/EU students in 2020/21 are £9,250 per year. The University has confirmed that EU students commencing study in 2020 will continue to be charged fees at the same rate as UK students. Fees for international students for 2020/21 are £23,580 for year 1 and £41,110 for each of years 2, 3 and 4.

The Students' Union (SU) represents the student body as a unified group. Warwick Students' Union is one of the largest and most active in the country. Respected for its first class facilities, fair trade policy, entertainment programme and 'safe space' environment – the stereotypical boozy Union social scene is only a fraction of what goes on at the SU.

Chaplaincy spaces are open for everyone, of all faiths and none, as a place to study, relax and socialise. Chaplains are available to all students, again of all faiths and none, for wellbeing, emotional, and spiritual support and guidance, and as an ear to listen when needed.
