Local Info

campus mapLocation

The workshop will take place on the main campus of Warwick University. Note that the nearest train station to campus is Coventry station, not Warwick train station. Information on visiting the University of Warwick can be found here, including travel directions and campus maps. The closest airport is Birmingham which has a regular train service to Coventry directly from the airport (the airport train station is connected to the terminals via a short skyrail). Warwick campus is then a short taxi ride from Coventry's train station. For those arriving in London, the recommended route is to take a train to Coventry, with the best connections offered from London's Euston train station. Buses are also available from the London airports but not as regular, see national express if you wish to consider these. Should you have any questions concerning your travel, please let us know.

The workshop will take place in the Physical Sciences building (building #46 on the campus maps) which is part of the Faculty of Science. This is also where the Warwick Astronomy & Astrophysics group is based and is a short walk from the on-campus accommodation.

Accommodation

Most of you are based in the the Scarman and Radcliffe hotels, centrally located on main-campus. These are full-service hotels with their own receptions desks where you can check-in and settle your accommodation bill. Breakfast is included and all rooms have wired ethernet. We suggest you bring a spare cable along as otherwise you may need to buy one and/or pay a deposit to borrow one. The reception desk can also help you with booking taxi's and general enquiries. For those arriving on Sunday, Radcliffe check-in opens at 3pm. Should you arrive earlier, please go to Scarman hotel initially which is open all weekend. You can wait in the Scarman lounge untill Radcliffe opens.

Reception

On Sunday the 15th, there is a welcome reception in the atrium of University house from 7-9pm. Food & drinks will be served and a registration desk is available. University House is building 63 on the campus map. From Radcliffe, one can either head down library road then turn left onto University road, or follow Gibbet Hill Road to the roundabout and take a right onto University Road. There is a wide footpath leading to University House from the corner of University Road.

Internet

Wireless networks are available throughout campus but we can only offer a limited number of logins. If your institution supports eduroam, we strongly recommend you set this up, as you will then be able to connect anywhere on campus (and across an increasing network of institutions globally). A limited number PCs and network ports will also be available to hook up to.

Food

We will be serving coffee and lunch breaks, while breakfast is included for those staying in campus accommodation. For evening meals, a number of outlets are available on campus, and a campus map will be in your conference pack. Locals can also advice you on options slightly further afield.

Campus Facilities

All events on campus are a short walk from each other, and campus facilities include ATMs, post-office, supermarket, pharmacy and a number of other retail and food outlets, see the Warwick retail webpage for more information. Regular buses are available to Coventry and Kenilworth/Leamington and a taxi rank is located near the main campus bus stop.
