We're developing finite element models capable of representing the mechanical behaviour of battery cells to assist in the development of module and pack designs for vehicle applications.
A macro modelling approach, in which the cell core is treated as a homogeneous block of material, is used to facilitate integration with full vehicle crash models. Module models include the main structural components and electrical interconnects.
