Blog Splodge: thoughts and words from our community members each week

Welcome to Blog Splodge!

Each week (or so), a blog-style piece will be shared from a community member. Everyone’s welcome to get involved—just reach out if you'd like to contribute a "splodge" of thoughts!

Why "Splodge"?

The first Splodge comes from India Holme, the Project Principal Investigator/Manager, who's battling imposter syndrome and is not a blogger.

More of a splodger of words! This is a laid-back space to share ideas, reflections, and experiences.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT helped refine this piece and some other pages of ours. Thanks to Marie, our logical and creative Project Coordinator, for the suggestion!

There was a bit of a Google rabbit hole along the way, but the value is clear—especially for those communicating complex ideas to different audiences. Always looking to improve how that’s done.

Want to contribute?

Your splodge can be about anything—events, workshops, a busy week, research, or a cool project you’ve been working on. Maybe you’ve won a funding bid or attended an inspiring workshop— we’d love to hear about it.

Just keep it clean, positive, and focused on collaborACTION, research, policy, and Coventry and Warwickshire.

Let’s Keep It Simple!

  • Use plain English and avoid jargon where you can. If you do use jargon or acronyms, explain them, or link to something that explains them
  • We have an 11-year-old girl, a sharp, creative Coventry kid, to read over these blogs—if she gets it, we’re on the right track.
  • For now we can call it the “Tabby Test”—it’s free, fun, and helps us all improve how we communicate.
  • We strongly advise all Splodgers to have friends and family of all ages and backgrounds read their Splodge.

The Tabby Test

  • If the Tabby Test works well, we can ask other young people from Coventry and Warwickshire to help too.
  • This will give us feedback from different ages and backgrounds, helping us improve even more.
  • Plus, it’ll help everyone learn new skills along the way.
  • It’s a great way to communicate better and further break down any barriers, whilst creating pathways for the golden thread to continue to connect us all together in new ways.

Let’s see what Splodges our members can create.

  • Teams
  • Individuals
  • Organisations
  • All ages, backgrounds, shapes and sizes.

Please send us your Splodges!
