Leah Lawrence's TeamWork Experience

Leah Lawrence

Leah Lawrence, UG, Psychology

Why did you want to participate in TeamWork?

For me, TeamWork was an opportunity to take part in a project amongst a small group of people who lived across the globe. This was an opportunity I had not yet seen or been offered by the University, making it unique to the more general offers Warwick have. As well as this, the opportunity included a lot of free training which not only looks great on a CV, but gives you the skills you do need in the real world.

What did you hope to achieve from taking part in TeamWork?

I hoped to achieve better intercultural awareness through the TeamWork programme, as it stressed the importance of this knowledge within the briefing of the projects. I feel like I have gone above and beyond what I expected to learn around intercultural awareness through the project itself and the TeamWork experience.

What did you gain from the experience?

I feel from the experience I have gained more confidence in being able to step back from being 'team leader' and accept a more neutral role within a group. From previous experience with group work, I always felt I had to complete the majority of the work, however, within my TeamWork project, we were all able to work equally and fairly, making the workload easier to manage.
