Postgraduate Research Experience Survey 2026

PRES 2026

Survey open: 20 April - 8 May 2026

PRES 2026

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is a national survey of postgraduate research (PGR) students, run annually by institutions across the UK and internationally. The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete.

PRES 2026 is your opportunity to share your views on your experience as a research student at the University of Warwick. Your feedback helps us understand what’s working well and where improvements are needed. The results allow us to benchmark Warwick against other institutions, make positive changes for the future, and continue to invest in the aspects of the research experience that matter most to you.

PRES is open to all PGR students researching at the University of Warwick, including full-time, part-time, and distance learning students.

Your voice makes a difference for current and future PGR students.

How do I access the Survey?

Simply click on the link below, or your personalised link in the email you've been sent. The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete.

You will receive a number of emails during the survey period asking you to complete the survey. Once completed, you will not be sent any further emails from the Doctoral College but may receive internal communications from your department.

How has your feedback made a difference?

The results of the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) are used at both departmental and institutional level to identify what we’re doing well and where further improvements are needed to enhance the postgraduate research experience.

Your feedback really does matter. Each year, over 100 universities and colleges in the UK and globally take part in PRES. This allows us to benchmark your experience against that of postgraduate researchers at comparable institutions and assess whether we are supporting your learning, development, and wellbeing as effectively as we should.

We use these insights to inform decision‑making, shape policy, and improve courses and support for current and future research students.

Examples of how PRES and PREF feedback has been used:

  • PGR training review– Feedback from the PREF 2025 survey directly informed the review of postgraduate researcher training provision.
  • Supervisor training and support– Survey results have contributed to changes in how supervisors are supported and developed, helping to strengthen the supervisory relationship and overall research experience.
  • Departments will have their own examples of changes made as a result of feedback from PRES.

By sharing your views, you help drive meaningful change for the PGR community at Warwick.
