A two session event run by the Doctoral College and Student Opportunity.

These workshops are aimed at 3rd and final year PhDs to help make sense of both the academic and non-academic job market.

Book into one or both sessions on each day!

The morning will comprise of academic and alumni speakers talking about their own experiences on gaining a job in academia including (although subject to availability on the day):

  • Dr. Peter Gammon (Engineering)
  • Dr. Liz Blagrove (Psychology)
  • Dr. Meera Unnikrishnan (Warwick Medical School)
  • Dr. Kurt Debattista (Warwick Manufacturing Group)
  • Dr. Mike Jennings (Alumni Engineering, Swansea University)

And

Dr. Lauren Schrock (Warwick Manufacturing Group) presenting on;

1. Academic Cover Letters;

2. Academic CV's;

3. Where to look for academic jobs;

4. As well as hints and tips when applying.

The afternoon led by Chris Manley, Senior Careers Consultant will be a more practical and related workshop with speaker/s including:

    • Information and reassurance about the non-academic PhD job market
    • Understanding your skills
    • Where to look: Frequent options, resources available, developing your networks, sources of information, making an effective application
    • Speakers subject to the day are:
