Doctoral Values
We’re excited to share a project created with you and for you! Thanks to WIHEA funding and the amazing collaboration with our PGR partners, we set out to discover what truly matters to our postgraduate researcher community. Over 40 of you joined our online and in-person focus groups, leading passionate, student-driven discussions that shaped the heart of this initiative. Together, we identified seven core values that reflect your experiences and priorities. We then took these values back out to the wider community during the PGR Festival and through an online VEVOX poll, where you voted for your top five. With your input, we finalised a set of values that truly represent the PGR voice. These are now being brought to life through infographics – created by a talented PGR graphic designer from our own community. This is your voice, your values, and your project!
According to Our PGRs Your Doctoral Values are:
Learning and Personal Growth
Supporting the Whole Researcher
Compassionate Supervision
Recognition and Empowerment
Community and Belonging
Our Next Steps
As a next step, we’ve recruited a PGR graphic designer to develop visual and promotional materials that will bring the final set of Doctoral Values to life. Once complete, these materials will help promote the values across the wider PGR community, ensuring they are visible, understood, and embedded in our shared culture. We also plan to integrate the values into all aspects of the Doctoral College’s work and long-term strategy, using them as a framework to inform decision-making and support. The values will be revisited at regular intervals to ensure they continue to reflect the evolving needs of PGRs. Additionally, they will be used as part of our promotional efforts to highlight the Warwick PGR experience to prospective students.
