Since the University was established in 1964, its development has been guided by a succession of Masterplans.
The current Masterplan is coming to the end of its life, so the University is commissioning a new Masterplan Team – led by BDP Architects – to explore and agree longer term, visionary solutions to the University’s future growth and development, looking to 2030 and beyond.
This will contemplate how the University of the future will operate and what its campus will look like, and will take account of new strategic infrastructure such as the proposed A46 Link Road, a possible new rail station, and even new forms of transport.
This will involve several stages of consultation within the University and externally with local stakeholders and communities.
The masterplan will then be put forward for approval and the support of the local authorities.
This work is in addition to the current Capital Plan Hybrid Application and is not an alternative option.
