'Firefighter', 1932-2001

To mark the Fire Brigades Union's 100th anniversary in 2018, the FBU funded the digitisation of surviving editions of the union journal from 1932-2001.

During the 1930s, 'The Firefighter' was issued as an occasional publication, providing information about the FBU's annual conference to the union's members. 'Firefighter' was published as a regular journal or newspaper from March 1940 onwards, as the demands of the Second World War made good communication vital, and can include articles about broader political, international and societal subjects as well as material relating to the service and union.

All issues of the journal from 1947 to 2001 are available online through Warwick Digital Collections,Link opens in a new window and many (but not all) issues from 1932-1946 are also included - please contact usLink opens in a new window if you can help to fill in the gaps.
