Awards evenings, events and results - Catching up with Emma

Final year, 2+2 Degree Pathway student Emma has had an eventful year. From awards evenings, working events, to receiving the results for her degree – the mother of four caught up with the Centre to reflect on the final year of her studies.

Emma: "The last few weeks have been absolutely amazing. Those of you who have read my blogs will know that the start of my final year was far from easy, but I can definitely say all the hard work and determination has paid off."

Dissertation Success!

"I found out a few weeks ago that I had achieved a 1st for my dissertation, which I was obviously over the moon with. I am now working with my dissertation supervisor Anil Awesti to get it published in the reinvention journal. I would like to say a massive thank you to Anil for all his support throughout my dissertation and my final year."

Unitemp of the Year Nomination

"I also received a nomination for student employee outstanding performance award at Unitemps of the year 2019, for the work I do as a student ambassador, digital skills mentor, and student blogger. The nomination was totally unexpected, I love all the work I do with CLL and other students and prospective students and believe it has helped me throughout my time as an undergraduate student as much as it has anyone else.

Nevertheless, receiving the nomination and attending the award ceremony with Lauren Elmore was fantastic and even though I didn’t win the award, just to be nominated was more than enough for me. So, another massive thank you to all the staff in CLL especially Lauren, Nat, Michelle, and Kay."

Results and Graduation

"Final amazing thing… I PASSED!!! I couldn’t be any happier. I have achieved a 2.1 classification in my Social Studies BA (Hons) degree. I am absolutely over the moon, there was definitely times when I thought I would never get through but with the support of my family, friends, and all in CLL I have done it so another huge thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey."

Looking to the future

"So, what next? Well graduation in two weeks, to say I’m excited would be an understatement I still don’t think its real. I shall then be enjoying some quality time with my husband and kids; but I will definitley be doing some reading in preparation for the start of my masters in September. "

Emma graduates from the Centre for Lifelong Learning in the July 2019 ceremony and will start her masters in Career Development and Coaching Studies in September.
