Drama and theatre can transform how people learn, communicate and connect. Our MA explores how performance enhances learning across education and communities. Combining theory with practical collaboration, you’ll develop the creative, pedagogic and research skills for careers in schools, colleges, community arts and theatre. You’ll also connect with an international network of teachers, practitioners and actor-teachers to explore how to make learning accessible, playful and creative.
One of my favourite aspects of the course has been the discussions in class. My classmates come from a variety of professional and educational backgrounds, so every conversation brings new perspectives and encourages me to reflect on my own teaching practice. I've also really enjoyed the practical workshops, where we can put ideas from class into teaching and drama practice rather than just learning about them in theory. The lecturers create an open and supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas, which makes every session engaging and inspiring.

Optional modules
This programme has a number of optional modules to choose from. Our optional module lists are subject to change each year to keep the student learning experience current and up-to-date.

Within the centre we use a mixture of lectures, seminars and workshops. For
large modules (100+), in addition to your lecture you will be assigned to
seminar groups (between 15 and 30 students) for in-depth discussion and
activities. For Drama-specific modules you will work as a ‘company’ of around
15-20 people.
You will have core teaching contact time in each term, plus rehearsal time each
week, and research methods training lectures and seminars during the Autumn
and Spring Terms, with additional research methods training and dissertation
preparation in the Spring Term. In the Summer Term, and over the summer
period you will attend large group, small group and individual tutorials relating
to your dissertation work.
Assessment types vary depending on modules selected but may be a mixture of assignments and presentations. You will also complete a dissertation based on an individual research project, with support from a research supervisor.
Entry requirements
2:2 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a related subject.
IELTS overall score of 7.0, minimum component scores of two at 6.0/6.5 and the rest at 7.0 or above.

Fees and scholarships
Tuition fees are payable for each year of your course at the start of the academic year, or at the start of your course, if later. Academic fees cover the cost of tuition, examinations and assessment and some student amenities.
We carry out an initial fee status assessment based on the information you provide in your application. Students will be classified as Home or Overseas fee status. Your fee status determines tuition fees, and what financial support and scholarships may be available. If you receive an offer, your fee status will be clearly stated alongside the tuition fee information.

Dissertations and Assignments are only submitted digitally. However, students may wish to print and bind their dissertation for their own purposes. Students on some courses will have a final poster presentation as part of their project and the printing of posters may be at the students’ expense.

While this course does not offer a formal work placement, postgraduate taught students at Warwick can self-source internships and work experience to complete alongside their studies, subject to visa conditions and the 20‑hour weekly limit for full‑time students.
Opportunities can vary in length and location, including in the UK, online and internationally. Postgraduate students find that shorter, remote and/or flexible opportunities work best around their studies, often seeking opportunities over the summer when teaching decreases and the focus moves to final dissertations and projects - although this can vary depending on the nature of the course and personal preference.

We will still accept late applications, however cannot guarantee that the application will be processed in time to complete the admissions process if received in September or there are a number of conditions to meet.
