Developed with industry in mind, our BEng Robotics Engineering with Artificial Intelligence brings together the latest ideas in machine intelligence, robotics, and computer-aided engineering to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Robots are transforming the world. From disrupting manufacturing to planting and harvesting crops, serving food to our tables, performing surgeries, and even providing care for our loved ones, they are changing the way we live and work. Rather than replacing us, robots are redefining what’s possible. By embracing artificial intelligence, humans and robots can work together to tackle the global challenges we are facing now and in the future.
Our Robotics Engineering with Artificial Intelligence (AI) degree will equip you with the confidence, creativity, and expertise to create new products for our rapidly changing world. This course goes beyond traditional engineering, incorporating hardware and software to solve complex engineering problems.
In your first year, you’ll build a strong foundation of engineering mechanics, electronics, programming and rapid prototyping, which you’ll bring together through a group ‘sprint’ project. As you advance, you’ll work in teams to create cyber-physical artefacts. These are virtual models which enable you to test and refine before applying them in the physical world. In your third year you will undertake an individual project.
To ensure you are career-ready when you graduate, we take a problem-based approach to learning that reflects professional engineering practice. You’ll gain hands-on experience while developing the practical and problem-solving skills employers value. You'll also master modern technologies such as AI, automation, robotics, and computer-aided systems. We’ll give you the tools you need – theoretical, practical and professional, to work in or lead interdisciplinary engineering teams in the workplace.
We’ve designed this course to meet the needs of the engineering industry, and as such, industry experts have worked with us to shape the course content. We’ll also use industry-relevant assignments to assess your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. This will enhance your employability by allowing you to demonstrate your value to industry while also providing opportunities to develop your professional networks.
This course sits within WMG at the University of Warwick, meaning you’ll have access to well-equipped labs and facilities for practical and project work. Relevant to your third-year individual project, you may have the opportunity to experience industrial-scale equipment and state-of-the-art simulation activities.
You’ll also be able to engage with WMG's latest research in related fields such as Automation Systems and Robotics, Visualisation, Intelligent Vehicles, Data Science, Cyber Security, Connectivity, AI and Autonomous Systems. WMG’s applied and active research is led by experts who are delivering the technologies and knowledge to transform industry and society. Engaging with research will provide context to your studies and prepare you for employment after graduation.
As this is a new programme, we aim to seek accreditation to partially meet the educational requirements for becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the relevant industry professional bodies, however, this cannot be guaranteed at this stage. We have gained accreditation from industry professional bodies for established programmes at WMG.

Fees and funding
Tuition fee
£9,790
On 26 November 2025, the UK government announced that the tuition fee cap for UK undergraduate students for the 2026-27 academic year would increase to £9,790 from the 2025-26 rate of at £9,535.
Students who qualify for government-regulated fees are classed as ‘Home’ students for fees purposes. In future years, fees for continuing students may be subject to an increase in fees in line with any inflationary uplift as determined by the UK Government (if permitted by law or government policy).
We carry out an initial fee status assessment based on the information you provide in your application. Students will be classified as Home or Overseas fee status. Your fee status determines tuition fees, and what financial support and scholarships may be available. If you receive an offer, your fee status will be clearly stated alongside the tuition fee information.
If you believe that your fee status has been classified incorrectly, you can complete a fee status assessment questionnaire. Please follow the instructions in your offer information and provide the documents needed to reassess your status.
You will repay your loan or loans gradually once you are working and earning above a certain amount. For students starting their course after 1 August 2023 (on Student Finance England’s Plan 5), you will repay when your income is over £25,000 a year.
Repayments will be taken directly from your salary if you are an employee. If your income falls below the earnings threshold or you stop working, your repayments will stop until your income goes back up above this figure.

Teaching and learning
Throughout this degree, you’ll engage in teamwork and project-based learning, developing strong communication skills and the ability to understand views from across different areas of a business.
From the start of your journey with us, we’ll introduce you to real-world working practices, including tackling complex engineering problems, requirements capture, and applying interdisciplinary engineering science and sustainable solutions with creativity.
Content on the course is informed by industry needs, including nurturing softer skills such as teamwork, agility, project management, and presentation skills.
We have designed the programme with student support, wellbeing, and innovative teaching approaches in mind, to ensure you have the best possible experience and the foundations for success.
Our facilities will give you access to the tools and resources you need to explore, experiment, and innovate. You’ll have access to well-equipped labs and facilities for practical and project work. Relevant to your third-year individual project, you may have the opportunity to experience industrial-scale equipment and state-of-the-art simulation activities.
Many of our teaching staff at Warwick have experience working on robotics or AI projects in industry, or on research projects with industry.
You'll study in different class sizes dependent on the type of activity - for lectures/seminars you would expect to be with your entire cohort (limited to 60) whereas for practical, project or group work you'll typically work in groups of 3-6.
Each module will include between 3-5 hours of contact time each week during term time (i.e. 12-20 hours per week in total), including a mixture of lectures, labs and seminars. The expected total study time per year is 1200 hours.
This degree centres on teamwork and a problem-based learning approach, both of which are reflected in the way you’ll be assessed. Unlike traditional engineering courses where you might be solving abstract, theoretical problems independently, on this course you’ll be assessed with more of a focus on practical, group project work. We believe you’ll find this style of assessment particularly rewarding if you prefer practical project work over traditional exams or working in isolation.
The final degree classification is determined by Year Two (30%) and Year Three (70%).
