Throughout your time on your degree, you will develop a range of transferable skills which are highly valued by graduate employers. These typically include the following: excellent written and communication skills; ability to research and analyse large amounts of data; intellectual rigour and independence in presenting findings; ability to construct and communicate arguments; to work independently and as part of a team; to deliver work to agreed deadlines; capacity to solve problems, think creatively and approach problems with an open mind; knowledge and understanding of different factors that impact on individuals and groups in society.
If you would like to practically apply your degree in your future career your skills and knowledge could be used, for example, to catalogue and preserve information as an archivist; you could manage collections of historical artefacts as a museum curator; or you could take up post-graduate study for an academic career, with the possibility of going on to share your expertise through writing and engaging with public audiences. The problem-solving and analytical skills typically developed on your degree are also relevant in just about any industry which has a focus on current society and future developments - particularly in the fields of law, business, finance, politics, academia, culture and heritage.

"The department has prepared me for life after Warwick by giving me the opportunity to foster relationships and develop skills. The many people I have talked to have not only given me insights into different industries and specific knowledge into various roles but also opened doors for opportunities I was unaware of. For example, the department's strong connection to numerous employers brings in great careers fairs and promotes alumni engagement for many who have gone through the same paths and seen life beyond. The broad availability of topics in the economics degree, be it Time Series, Financial Economics or Environmental Economics, coupled with options outside the department (such as Computer Science and in Warwick Business School) opens doors for many specialised industries in finance and beyond."

Thinking about Graduate Entry Medicine?
We're pleased to be able to offer Health and Medical Sciences students access to our Medical Application Support Programme (MASP), which provides aspiring medics with all of the knowledge and information required to navigate each element of the recruitment and selection process. Students can independently access a wealth of resources, updated annually, covering everything from entry requirements to admissions tests.
Alongside this, bespoke workshops provide enhanced support on essential elements of the process, often with current medical students providing invaluable insight and the benefit of their experience. Students are also able to access individual support from the Senior Careers Consultants for the Medical School and School of Life Sciences.
