I'm currently investigating Shepshed in the 40 years after Levine finished (Family Formation in an Age of Nascent Capitalism and his 1974 PhD thesis had a terminus ad quem of 1851). During these four decades, industrial organization in Shepshed was (predominantly, but not completely) transformed from 'proto'-industrial (a term which Levine deliberately avoids and which I employ for heuristic purposes only) to factory-based production and the concomitant transfiguration of households from FWK-economy to factory-hand economy (shoe as well as hosiery).
