Local Information
Welcome to BCTCS 2009. This page contains information to help our guests arrive, and to stay on the Warwick campus.
Workshop location:
BCTCS 2009 will take place on the campus of the University of Warwick [online campus map]. All the talks will be held in the building of the Warwick Mathematics Institute (number 35 on the campus map), in lecture rooms MS.01 and MS.02.
For those staying on the campus:
Most of the participants will be staying in en-suite rooms at the University. After arrival, you will need to pick up the keys from Rootes Social Building Reception (building 47 on the campus map) from 3:00 pm onwards on the day of your check in. If you're planning to arrive earlier then you should contact directly the Reception (phone number +44 24 7652 2280).
The registration desk will be next to the Rootes Social Building Reception and the registration will take place between 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. If you are coming by car, see the campus parking map.
You must check out at 9.30 am on the day of departure. The accommodation includes breakfast which is served between 7.30 am & 9.30 am in the Rootes Restaurant which is on the first floor of the Rootes Social Building.
For those arriving late:
Once the main reception has closed, security will see late arriving delegates to their rooms. There is a phone by the entrance of Rootes Social Building which has direct link to security should reception have closed.
Internet Access:
At the registration desk a username and a password will be provided which will provide wireless access in all the hot-spot areas on campus. Relevant hotspots are in the Mathematics Institute and the library. For instructions on getting wireless access, please see this.
There may not be wireless access in the accommodation rooms. However, there is free Internet access in the rooms - but it's advisable to bring your own Ethernet cable. If you do not bring an Ethernet cable, you may be able to purchase one from the Cost Cutters store which is opposite the Warwick Arts Center.
Arriving from Coventry station:
The number 12 bus from Coventry station takes about 25 minutes to reach campus. The maximum off peak fare is £ 1.50, and you will need the exact fare as the driver does not give change.
(While major redevelopment work is being carried out at the Warwick Arts Centre, temporary bus stops have been placed on Library Road.)
A taxi is the fastest way to reach campus, but it will cost about £ 9-10.
