Title: Practice of RF Sensing for Digital Health
Abstract: The radio frequency (RF) sensing is an evolving technique in the field of digital health. It can provide seamless monitoring capability while minimize the privacy invasion issue. This talk will explore the innovative ways in which devices like software defined radio (SDR) and WiFi network interference card (NIC), are being harnessed for various sensing function, including Doppler-based human sensing, passive indoor localization and angle finding by phased-array radar. They will be demonstrated with real-world experimental results, and challenges will also be discussed.
Bio:
Since 2023, Dr Wenda Li is an assistant professor of telecommunication at the Institute of Sensor Signal and Systems, Heriot Watt University. Before that, he was a lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Science and Engineering, University of Dundee between 2022 and 2023. He obtained his PhD at the University of Bristol in 2018 focused on remote sensing techniques. After that, he joined the University of Birmingham as a research fellow and moved to the University College London in 2019 also as a research fellow. Dr Li’s most recent research focus is on joint communication and sensing technology, and associated machine learning methods. He has worked on several projects funded by EPSRC, Innovate UK, etc and in close partnership with leading industries. So far, he has published over 50 publications in top rank journals and conferences.
