Systems and Security
Overview of theme
The Systems and Security (SAS) research theme focuses on addressing real-world challenges in security, reliability and performance of modern computer systems and applications, with an emphasis on both theoretical foundations and practical impact. Key research areas include i) developing systems which offer high-performance, secure, dependable and scalable access to data and resources; ii) designing cryptographic protocols for real-world applications; iii) applying AI to enhance cybersecurity; iv) safeguarding machine learning models against adversarial attacks; v) designing, analysing and optimizing large-scale scientific codes on massively parallel and high-performance architectures; vi) developing parallel and distributed computing techniques across diverse system architectures and application domains.
Our key research areas include (see People):
Applied Probability (Mukhopadhyay, Ciucu)
Performance Modelling and Analysis of Networks and Distributed Systems (Mukhopadhyay, Ciucu)
Publications and Projects
Our Publications list provides details of our published papers in books, journals and conferences.
We are involved in many diverse research projects funded by several external bodies such as EPSRC, Alan Turing Institute, Huawei Research, ERC, Royal Society, Innovate UK, British Council, etc.
