Warwick Postgraduate Colloquium in Computer Science 2020
The Warwick Postgraduate Colloquium in Computer Science is an annual student-run conference aimed at showcasing the research done by the PGR students working in Computer Science, the Centre for Discrete Mathematics and its Applications (DIMAP) and the CDT in Urban Science and Progress. The event is free for all participants. Staff are encouraged to attend as much of the event as possible, in order to provide valuable feedback to participants. To help ensure health and safety, this year's colloquium will be held online.
Event Logistics
The event will take place on Monday 14th December, from 9am to 1pm, through the web communication platform Microsoft Teams. Attendees will give a short presentation (up to 5 minutes plus Q&A) on the day of the colloquium, centred around one key result or method from their research. Creative formats are encouraged, so to make the conference dynamic and engaging. PhD students who started their research between June 2019 and May 2020 are required to submit an additional 10-to-15-minute-long pre-recorded presentation, which will be made available to attendees for a period of 10-days prior the online event. This will allow them to receive more in depth feedback from their peers and staff. MSc Research and PhD students who commenced their research after May 2020 are not required to present nor submit a longer presentation, but have the option to do so. On the day of event, there will be guest speakers from both academia and industry. Attendance is expected from all PhD students.
Abstract Submissions
All attendees should submit a short abstract of their presentations (max 150 words) by the 23rd of October.
Prizes
Prize vouchers worth up to £30 will be awarded to the best short and long presentations, within each track and overall. Ad additional prize will be awarded for the most creative presentation format. Excerpts from the winning presentations will be publicised and celebrated on this website.
Sponsorship
The Department of Computer Science offers support and funding for this annual event.
