A Genetics Society Meeting of the Arabidopsis Sectional Group, discussing new technologies and their use in plant science.
The aim of the workshop is to inform the Arabidopsis and wider plant community of the extensive and varied uses of Next Generation Sequencing in plant research. We hope the workshop will provide an introduction to those researchers to whom NGS remains a black box and inspiration to those hoping to utilise it further in their work.
After an introductory session, the morning presentations will be on re-sequencing, including its use for genome-wide association studies of Arabidopsis genomes, identifying novel mutations, and fine-mapping of quantitative trait loci. The first afternoon sessions will be themed around de-novo and comparative genomics. The final four presentations will be on novel uses of next generation sequencing, ranging from RNA sequencing to mapping chromatin structure.
