Where to find support during your studies
Getting Support
Who can I talk to?
There are lots of places that you can seek support when you need it. Here are some of the departmental and central services that you can reach out to. If you are not sure which type of support you need, you can speak to your personal tutor.
Who is my Personal Tutor?
- Each student is allocated a Personal Tutor at Warwick. Usually, this is a member of the academic staff in your department. You'll find out who yours is via Tabula or during Welcome Week.
What is their role?
- Your Personal Tutor is your first point of contact within the department to discuss any issues that arise, whether pastoral or academic.
- You can draw on their experience and expertise as and when you need – they are your ongoing individual face-to-face relationship within the department and are here to support you throughout your time at Warwick.
- They are also the most obvious person to provide references for you after you graduate, so it is worthwhile investing time into developing a strong working relationship.
When will we meet?
- You'll meet with your personal tutor weekly (ish) in a small group or 1:1.
- You may request additional meetings as and when you need them.
How will we meet?
- The first meeting you have will be in Week 1 of teaching on Monday 5th October, 10.00am. We will tell you all about this during Welcome Week and you'll have the chance to locate your tutors office as part of an activity.
The Dean of Students Office has overall responsibility for all Personal Tutoring networks across the University. You can find out more about the role of the Dean of Students Office on their webpages.Link opens in a new window
