How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

SATCON2 Workshop

Runs from Monday, July 12 to Friday, July 16.

The National Science Foundation’s NOIRLAB and the American Astronomical Society will hold the Satellite Constellations 2 (SATCON 2) Workshop virtually from July 12-16, 2021.

The Satellite Constellations 2 (SATCON2) workshop will discuss how to implement mitigation strategies to minimise the impact of satellite constellations on astronomy.

SATCON2, the successor workshop to last year’s SATCON1, has three objectives:

  • Define and quantify resources, metrics, and collaborations needed to implement the SATCON1 recommendations, many of which will require substantial effort and funds to address.
  • Engage astronomers and satellite operators collaboratively in exploring policy frameworks and developing policy points for operations in low Earth orbit (LEO).
  • Increase the diversity of stakeholders and perspectives working to address both the challenges and the opportunities for astronomers, satellite operators, and all of humanity created by the industrialisation of space.
