NGTS Observations Request Form

The Next Generation Transit Survey (NGTS) is a telescope facility located in Cerro Paranal, Chile. Its 12 telescopes are fully automated and individually controlled and feature an excellent photometric precision. You can learn more about NGTS at ngtransits.org.

Use this form to request observations with NGTS - once you submit this form, we will contact you on the email you provided in due time. If you have any questions, you can also contact us directly on ngtransits@gmail.com.

Note that publication of proprietary NGTS data is subject to the NGTS Publication Policy outlined below.

Brief description of the science case and objective. There should be no need for this to be longer than a few sentences.  This will help us prioritise this observation over others.

TIC, TOI, or other identifiers in the case of stars, or RA/Dec for other objects.

An "observation night" is the UTC date when the Sun sets and the night begins. This will typically be the day before the actual event takes place; e.g. if a transit is at 1am UTC, then the observation night begins the day before. Please double check, as this is a common mistake.

Details about the targets, including magnitude (Vmag or Tmag), precision required (e.g. transit depth in the case of transits), and length of each observation (e.g. transit length).

Are there any additional details or considerations you would like us to know? Any questions for us?

NGTS Publication Policy

Where proprietary NGTS data make a major contribution to a paper, co-authorships will be at the discretion of individual consortium members. Each individual will decide whether their contribution to the paper/project/consortium merits co-authorship on each paper when it is circulated for comments.

Where proprietary NGTS data make a minor contribution to a paper, the relevant working group lead will negotiate an appropriate number and names of NGTS co-authors, on behalf of the NGTS board (with an expected minimum of 5 co-authors). These arrangements are subject to approval by the NGTS Board, including the distinction between major and minor contributions.

All draft papers will be circulated to the full NGTS consortium for comments at least one week before submission, and preferably earlier.
