PLATO 2017 Conference Accommodation

The campus is on the outskirts of Coventry, and it takes approximately 30 minutes to get to the conference venue by bus (other locations may involve longer journeys). We therefore recommended lodging on campus. Guests preferring a city experience were directed to look for accommodation in Coventry, Leamington Spa, or Kenilworth (see Travel to the University).

Campus rooms

We reserved a number of on-campus rooms for the use of conference attendees on the Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The following options were available:

  • Single en-suite student bedroom
  • Single en-suite student bedroom, with two-course self-service dinner in Rootes Restaurant
  • Single student bedroom (shared bathroom facilities)
  • Single student bedroom (shared bathroom facilities), with two-course self-service dinner in Rootes Restaurant.

Limited numbers of rooms were also available on Sunday and Monday nights before the conference, and on Thursday and Friday nights following the conference.

Information on prices was found on the registration form, or was available on request (contact d.pollacco[at]warwick.ac.uk or d.j.a.brown[at]warwick.ac.uk). See Conference Venue for the location of accommodation on the map.

Breakfast

All rooms included breakfast in the Rootes Restaurant, which is located on the first floor of the Rootes Building.

Breakfast was served between 07:30 and 09:00

Dinner

All rooms include access to shared kitchen facilities, but note that no cooking equipment or utensils were provided.

On registration, guests could select accommodation either 'with dinner' or 'without dinner'.

  • If 'without' was selected, see the local information page provides details on the food and drink options available around campus.
  • If 'with dinner' was selected, the meals page for more information about the dinner arrangements.
Lunch / tea / coffee

All lunches and coffee / tea were provided to conference attendees at the Ramphal Building, and were included in the registration fee.

Check-in

Warwick Conferences reception is located within the Atrium of the Student Union building. This is where guests went to obtain their room keys.

Bedroom keys were available from 15:00 to 22:45 at Warwick Conference Reception. Guests arriving after 22.45 were requested to contact Conferences Reception on wcpreception@warwick.ac.uk or 44 2476 528910 to arrange for late key collection.

Guests were provided with a key or key card which provided access to their room, and to the entry door of the residence. Room keys had to be shown at Rootes Restaurant to gain access for breakfast and dinner.

Rooms had to be vacated by 09:30 on the day of departure. Luggage and belongings had to be removed by that time.

On the day of departure, keys could be left at Conference Reception (in the Students Union building), Rootes Restaurant (in Rootes Building) or one of the boxes situated in the entrance halls of each residence. A left luggage store is available in Warwick Conference reception. There was also room available to store bags in the main conference area.
