Following her retirement as the IER's administrator, Margaret has continued to work on a part-time basis, developing further her research interest in occupations and occupational classification in particular. She is currently involved in work to revise the UK Standard Occupational Classification (SOC2020), and in developing a more detailed version of the SOC.
