Search for planetary remains and new mathematical concepts at University of Warwick receive over €4 million European research funding

Scientists at the University of Warwick are to benefit from a total of over €4 million funding to support new projects that will aim to find and analyse the remains of planets around nearby dead stars, and to find new ways of incorporating the ideas of combinatorics into different areas of mathematics.

Data Science for Social Good Programme helps Ofsted and World Bank

Data Science for Social Good (DSSGxUK) is a summer programme that has been hosted by the University of Warwick and The Alan Turing Institute for the last two years, and will this summer, 2021, be delivered by University of Warwick in collaboration with Ludwig Maximillian University (Munich) under the DSSGx UK chapter of the DSSG Foundation.


Warwick researchers to explore the Milky Way & famous maths problem thanks to major European grant award

The ERC today, the 9th December, announced the winners of its latest Consolidator Grant competition for mid-career researchers. The funding is part of the EU’s current research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020, and worth in total €655 million. With this support, the new grantees will be able to consolidate their teams and have far-reaching impact. The two Warwick academics who have received the award are Professor David Loeffler, from the Mathematics Institute, and Dr Pier-Emmanuel Tremblay from the Department of Physics.

A new method for directed networks could help multiple levels of Science

In the paper, ‘How directed is a directed network?’, published today, the 9th September in the journal Royal Society Open Science, researchers from the University of Warwick and the University of Birmingham reveal a new method for analysing hierarchies in complex networks and illustrate it by applications to economics, language and gene expression.
