Archbishop Welby visits WMG, University of Warwick

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, visited WMG at the University of Warwick today (4 May 2018), as part of his ‘homecoming’ tour around Coventry, the city where he was first ordained.


Warwick academic honoured with British Sociological Association Distinguished Service award

Professor John Solomos from the University of Warwick Department of Sociology has been given this year’s Distinguished Service to British Sociology Award, an award made each year by the British Sociological Association to an outstanding individual who has contributed greatly to the discipline.


University of Warwick launches major teaching and research collaboration with partners in Paris and Brussels

The University of Warwick has today, Wednesday 28th March 2018, signed and launched two major teaching and research collaborations with partner universities and colleges in Paris and Brussels. The initiative, launched today in the University of Warwick’s base in London’s Shard building, commits Warwick to a close and active research and teaching alliance with French and Belgian partners despite the political and economic cleavages that Brexit could bring to future UK relations with continental Europe.


Another “spaceman” in Tesla car – Robert Llewellyn at WMG

Robert Llewellyn hosted TV’s Scrapheap Challenge, starred as one of the crew of the spaceship Red Dwarf, and runs the popular ‘Fully Charged’ YouTube channel about renewable energy.

He spoke on Monday 19th March 2018, at WMG, University of Warwick about his passion for renewable energy.


Playwright and actor Alecky Blythe honoured by University of Warwick

Award-winning playwright Alecky Blythe, pioneer of the verbatim technique in which real people’s words are faithfully delivered on stage by actors, has received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Warwick.

Blythe, who has brought sieges, sex work, riots and murder to the stage through her own theatre company, was made an Honorary Doctor of Letters at the University’s 2018 Winter Graduations.


Author Tash Aw: Malaysia an example of multiculturalism in modern world

Internationally acclaimed Malaysian author Tash Aw has received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Warwick, his alma mater.
