Martin Yardley, who currently combines the roles of Executive Director of Place at Coventry City Council and the CEO of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, is to join the University of Warwick in a senior business development role.

Minerva Business Angels help tech start-up Tended secure a million-pound investment deal

Minerva, the business angel network which is part of University of Warwick Science Park, has played a vital role in helping Lincoln-based tech start-up Tended access the funds and know-how needed to take its intelligent safety solutions to the next level. Tended secured a total of £935,000 through Minerva Business Angels, including a single investment of £810,000 from Blackfinch Ventures. They went on to secure a further £221,000 from innovate UK, taking the total raised to £1.15m.

£10m funding to build a new Degree Apprenticeship Centre for the high value manufacturing sector

WMG, at the University of Warwick, has been awarded £10 million to build a new Degree Apprenticeship Centre for the high value manufacturing sector.

The WMG Degree Apprenticeship Centre will focus on courses essential to the effective development of advanced engineering and manufacturing companies.

The Centre, which is due to open in 2019, has received £10 million from the Government’s Local Growth Fund through the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP).

Digital and innovation strategy expert David Plumb has been appointed to the new role of Director of Innovation at the University of Warwick. He will take up the role in September.
