Radical Hope and Youth Citizenry: Reflections on ethnography, community-engaged research and applied performanceFollowing the recent publication of Global Youth Citizenry and Radical Hope: Enacting Community-Engaged Research through Performative Methodologies (Gallagher, Rodricks & Jacobson, 2020), we are delighted to invite staff and students from across the University to this research event. We will share details of Gallagher’s international, multi-sited and collaborative research project (SSHRC 2014-18) Youth, Theatre, Radical Hope and the Ethical Imaginary: an intercultural investigation of drama pedagogy, performance and civic engagement. This project took place in five sites: Toronto (Canada), Lucknow (India), Athens (Greece), Taipei (Taiwan) and Coventry (UK). Rachel Turner-King was the lead researcher for the Coventry site (The Belgrade). Kathleen and Rachel will give presentations on their work. There will be a screening of the ‘Towards Youth’ documentary video and time for a Q & A. This interdisciplinary event will be of interest to those working in ethnography, social justice, youth studies, citizenship education and applied theatre. As we will be providing light refreshments, we ask you to sign up for this event by 9th March 2020. |
