What is Coventry City of Culture 2021?

Coventry has been announced as the City of Culture 2021, a government initiative which is awarded every four years. We're looking forward to celebrating as our city takes the stage.

The award is given to a city which shows commitment to culture and development. It offers the chance of new visitors, investment and jobs, and is a great opportunity to pull together various initiatives across the city. It gives a renewed push to encourage communities and groups to work together in creative ways that should benefit the city and region beyond 2021.

Warwick is a principal partner supporting Coventry City of Culture 2021, along with Coventry University and Coventry City Council. We are proud to support our local city and be part of the celebrations. We hope that our staff and students alike will enjoy the festivities during the year itself. You can see the latest events here.

We're also using this chance to create new partnerships, develop events and do research which has an impact on our community. We've started collaborations with universities, schools, communities, cultural groups and local venues. Venues include The Moat House Community Trust, The Herbert Art Gallery, The Belgrade Theatre, Grapevine, Groundwork UK, Wriggle Dance Theatre, New Art West Midlands, Coventry City Council, Foleshill Women’s Training Centre and Highly Sprung Performance Company.
