PRES Results

How has your feedback made a difference?

Your feedback really does make an impact. The results of the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) are used at both departmental and institutional levels to understand what’s working well and where improvements are needed to enhance the experience of research students.

Each year, more than 100 universities and colleges across the UK and globally take part in PRES. This allows us to benchmark our performance against comparable institutions and to assess how effectively we are supporting your learning, development, and wellbeing.

Your insights help Warwick identify priorities, make meaningful changes, and invest in the areas that matter most to our PGR community.

Examples of how your feedback has been used:

  • PGR Training Review
Feedback from the 2025 PREF survey directly informed the review of postgraduate researcher training provision. The final report has been completed and actions are currently ongoing.

  • Supervisor Training and Support
Survey results have contributed to changes in how supervisors are supported and developed, helping to strengthen the supervisory relationship and overall research experience.

  • Festival of Postgraduate Research
This is now an annual event aimed at enabling PGRs to make connections beyond their department and to celebrate outstanding research. Work has been done to develop this into a community‑focused event that brings the PGR population together.

  • Doctoral Values Project
In collaboration with the PGR community, we developed a set of Doctoral Values that reflect and represent the PGR voice.

  • Departments will also have their own examples of changes made as a result of feedback from PRES.

By sharing your views, you help drive meaningful change for the PGR community at Warwick.
